It was hard for V to really know when he went from being software to being asleep; he simply recalled not being and then being in a place where the mayor told him of his latest in a long series of misfortunes. He recalled only bitterly laughing in that dream. He knew he was dead, he was already cursed before he got here, he'd already been given a second chance. Yet another chance was wasted on him. ]

[ V looked over to watch the struggle with the door. His focus shifted to the door itself, looking at the lock. The idea of picking the lock did cross his mind but it looked like a normal door: he couldn't see why it was locked as it didn't seem to lock from the outside.

The question caught V off-guard. He knew he'd died on more than one occasion but having some stranger ask him point blank about it flared his anxiety. Even if this stranger knew what it was to die and come back, V didn't know how to feel. He didn't know what he was now: he wouldn't have known what he was if he took his body rather than given it away; he didn't know what he was now because this wasn't his body as he knew it. The last time he was without his mods was some time before his transition.

His gaze swept away from the door and stopped on what looked like a piece of paper on the nightstand. He went over and looked at it, picking it up and half-heartedly glancing it over. ]
