Sure, they had meant insult with that comment, but there was a huge difference between a casual cutting remark and a below the belt sucker punch. Especially against someone who had previously not been bothered by anything said. And it had seemed like a sore spot, even though V looked fully human as far as Wren could see even if he had a tech 'aesthetic'.
They didn't recognize all the words V said, but with a moment to think and the context clues of what they could understand they were pretty sure they were able to piece it together, brow furrowing a bit as they mentally worked through it - and then those tattoos got a second look.
