Well, now Steve definitely didn't want to say he'd seen a couple other people from Hawkins, because it could upset Joyce that none of them were who she wanted. And Steve got it. He was stupidly fond of those kids, too, and it was hard to decide if it was better they weren't here or worse they were in Hawkins without them.

"Maybe they'll still show up. Tomorrow, or something. Or there's a mall they might be at."

Though why any of them would want to go to a mall these days was beyond Steve.
