Hopper, so fixated on the door and trying to figure out exactly how the lock worked, nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard the other voice from behind him. Had she been here the whole time?!?

He quickly composed himself. He was used to carrying himself with a certain authority that’s belied when someone startles you and he was eager to get back into his comfort zone.
